4-H Market Livestock Program

Do you want to raise meat chickens, goats, sheep, beef or pigs and only want them for a
short period of time? This is the program for you! At the Cayuga County 4-H Youth Fair we
hold our annual livestock sale. Youth that ages 8 to 19 by January 1st are eligible to take part
in this great program.

Our 4-H Market Livestock Program provides youth with a unique learning opportunity. 4-H members participating in the project learn how to raise a high-quality product (beef, hog, lamb, or birds) for the consumer,along with important business skills such as financial management, marketing, and record management. The 4-H member tracks expenses, income, and the profit/loss of their project. Support from buyers who purchase a 4-H market animal project is crucial to the sustainability of this program.
