How To Recycle Right: Navigating the Recycling Industry

Residents who are eager to learn more about recycling may register now to attend a FREE educational event presented by Seneca County Cornell Cooperative Extension, Schuyler County Planning Department, and Cayuga County Planning Department. 

The event is titled “How To Recycle Right: Navigating the Recycling Industry” and takes place on Tuesday July 22nd, from 6:00-8:00pm. Participants may choose from two ways to attend: 

  • Stream the webinar using a computer or other device, or,
  • Attend an in-person “watch party” at Cornell Cooperative Extension sites in Cayuga, Schuyler and Seneca Counties (locations listed below)

Experts from higher education, state government and private industry will share information to help participants gain a better understanding of the current recycling industry. Topics covered will include: curbside single-stream, “return to store” recycling options, flow of recycling materials in New York State, regulated recycling facilities, the New York State Solid Waste Management Plan, and the challenges of hard-to-recycle materials like electronics and batteries.

  • Victoria Lannon, Environmental Program Specialist, NY State Department of Environmental Conservation Region 8, Division of Materials Management
  • Paola Viera, Community Programs Manager, Sunnking Sustainable Solutions
