Learn the basics of safe and ethical foraging wild edibles in Upstate New York. We will use a NYS 4-H approved curriculum that instructs on identifying, collecting, and preparing the flowers, leaves, fruits, and roots of local wild plants. We will not be working with mushrooms.
The plants that will be available to identify and sample will be dependent on the time and location of the class. Plants may be available to sample, but eating the plants is not a requirement of the class. Adults are encouraged to attend with youth to learn safe foraging techniques. A legal guardian must sign a permission slip specific to this class for youth to attend.
This clinic can be used for the non-agriculture workshop requirement for auction participants.
