Farmers, researchers, and agricultural professionals are invited to join NY Soil Health for the 2025 Organic Cropping Systems Field Day on Friday, August 15, from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the Musgrave Research Farm in Cayuga County.
The event is part of the 2025 New York Soil Health and Climate Resiliency Field Days and is free to attend. Registration is required.
The program will feature soil health demonstrations, an equipment showcase, and a farmer panel exploring strategies for success in organic crop rotations. A highlight of the afternoon is the New York Soil Health Trailer, a mobile lab equipped with a rainfall simulator that illustrates how practices like cover cropping can reduce runoff, control erosion, and improve nutrient retention.
This year’s event marks the 20th anniversary of the Cornell Organic Cropping Systems (OCS) Experiment, a long-term trial established in 2005 at the Musgrave Research Farm. The OCS explores organic crop rotations that vary in tillage intensity and fertility management, to provide research-based insights to improve yield, soil health, and profitability for organic producers.
